SUP with that board?
Paddleboarding is life
If you know me then you also know that I'd give up life as I know it to go live on the ocean. If I could trade in these legs for a mermaid tail that'd be all she wrote. However, since that dream may be a tad far-fetched, I make up for it with beach visits and water activities. One of my all-time favorites is stand up paddling boarding.
What can I say, it has the functionality of a canoe/kayak with the versatility of a surfboard so you can stand or sit when you need a break. Also don't be afraid to get wet because it is much easier to fall into the water when you lose your balance.
I've had the pleasure of paddle boarding in the ocean and on a lake but this adventure took place on the Intracoastal Waterway in Fort Lauderdale which, in its full entirety, stretches from Boston, Massachusetts to Brownsville, Texas.
Sunrise Paddleboards
Special thanks to Sunrise Paddleboard, another great find on Groupon, for being so friendly and accommodating. Traffic caused us to be a little late for our appointment but it was no big deal and as soon as we filled out the necessary paperwork we were ready to (do better than us and try to be punctual though, lol). They even offered the allow me to mount my go pro to the paddleboard (which I wasn't able to do due to my nightmare of a wrist strap😖). They also sell waterproof cases and floats for your sunglasses but with allow you to use one for free if your glasses are medicated. We received excellent instruction as I was paddling with a first timer but even I learned some great tips on technique while there. I definitely recommend them to paddle boarders and kayaker of all levels of expertise but as always participate at your own risk.
Enjoy the views!
What a blast! The water was calm enough to navigate and offered excellent views of coastal architecture and wildlife in their natural habitats. I know what you're thinking and no, there were no alligators and snakes this time but you never know what the next adventure will hold.
